Have you seen a map of your city or a location? What is a map?

A map is simply a drawing or picture of a place or
landscape that shows its important features. It helps
us to understand where things are located and how to
travel from one place to another.

Look at the given map. It shows a home at the centre
and important places around it, like the School, Park,
Shops and Playground. The roads connect all these
places. Maps like this help us understand where places

are located and which route to take to reach them.
For example, you would follow the routes mentioned
below to reach specific locations from home.

                1. to the Playground: Walk south on the red road and then follow the road to
                    reach the Playground.

                2. to the Park: Walk north on the yellow road until you reach the intersection,
then turn east to reach the Park.
                3. to the School: Walk west on the orange road, then turn north in the street to

                    reach the school.
Can you explain how to reach the shops?

Walk ________________ on the ________________ road, then turn ________________
on the road that leads directly to the shops.
